"The Lost Chapter"
If you have ever done work on your family tree, chances are you hit a dead-end. It's what genealogists call "hitting a wall." Your ancestral trail simply ends.
I hit a doozy of a wall.
Several generations of my family believed we were related to Cardinal Thomas Wolsey, who was Henry VIII's legendary Lord Chancellor. In the classic motion picture, “A Man for all Seasons,” he was portrayed by Orson Wells, and more recently actor Sam Neill played him in the Showtime production, “The Tudors.”
The bad news for my family is I never found any evidence that we are related to the Cardinal. But I wrote a chapter about him anyway because I thought it would be a good way to explain the roots of the English Reformation, which had such a profound impact on my ancestors.
After a great deal of soul-searching by me and my editor, we decided to take this chapter out of the book. But I'm happy it can live on in this website, complete with the original color photos I took during a research visit to London.
I hope you enjoy "The Lost Chapter" from BY FAITH ALONE.
